OUR APPROACH

Care Built Around the Whole Person

Healing is about more than reducing symptoms. Lasting change happens when you understand how your mind, brain, body, and relationships work together, then receive treatment that supports every part of that system.

At Dr. Kate Truitt & Associates, our approach is personalized, evidence-based, and grounded in neuroscience. We believe effective therapy begins with understanding the whole person, not just a diagnosis.

We take the time to understand:

  • Your story – the experiences, relationships, and life events that have shaped you.
  • Your brain and nervous system – how stress, trauma, anxiety, ADHD, or other challenges may be affecting your daily life.
  • Your emotions and thoughts – the patterns that influence how you feel, cope, and relate to others.
  • Your relationships – the people and environments that support your growth or contribute to ongoing challenges.
  • Your strengths – because healing is built on what is already resilient within you.

Together, we develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your unique goals, strengths, and needs. Our team includes clinicians with specialized expertise across a wide range of mental health concerns, allowing us to thoughtfully match you with a provider whose training and experience align with your unique needs rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach. By integrating evidence-based therapies with applied neuroscience, we provide collaborative, specialized care that evolves with your progress while supporting both immediate symptom relief and lasting resilience.

HOW CARE BEGINS:

1. A Supported Start to Care

You do not need to determine which clinician or treatment approach is right for you before reaching out. Lorelei, our amazing full-time, in-office Office Manager, will take time to learn what is bringing you in, answer your initial questions, and work with you to identify the clinicians and services that may be the best fit for your needs.

2. Speak With the Clinician

Your free 30-minute consultation will take place directly with the clinician you and Lorelei have identified as a possible fit. This conversation gives the clinician an opportunity to learn more about your concerns, goals, and current needs. It also gives you space to ask questions, understand how the clinician works, and consider together whether the relationship and approach feel right.

3. Schedule Your Intake

When you and the clinician agree that moving forward feels appropriate, Lorelei will help coordinate your intake appointment at a time that works with your schedule and confirm whether you will meet in person or through telehealth. She will also make sure you receive the necessary forms, appointment details, and practical information before your first session, so you know what to expect and can begin care without having to navigate the logistics alone.

4. Begin Your Journey

Your intake gives you and your clinician more time to understand the full picture of what has been happening—not only the symptoms that brought you in, but also your history, relationships, strengths, current stressors, and the changes you hope to create. Together, you will begin identifying the most important priorities for your work and shaping a personalized treatment plan.

How to Heal Together as a Community After a Crisis

Science shows that connection is medicine for the mind. When we reach out, share, and care, our brains begin to relearn safety. Healing, after all, doesn’t happen in isolation. It occurs in the community.

Stress, Trauma and the Brain: Why You React Before You Think

When you experience repeated stress or trauma, your brain adapts by creating shortcuts for survival. This is why you might overreact to situations that logically don’t seem threatening. Your brain isn’t malfunctioning. It’s trying to keep you safe.
